WHSV-TV began operations on October 19th, 1953. WHSV-TV serves the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and Eastern West Virginia. The Station’s transmitter is located on Big Mountain in the heart of the George Washington Forest near New Market, Virginia. WHSV’s primary station is an affiliate of the ABC Television Network. The Station offers the very best in syndicated programming and locally produced News and Public Affairs Programming. In fact, WHSV-TV’s News is the only locally originating television news in the Harrisonburg Market. News gathering efforts are enhanced by a full-time News Bureau in Augusta County. The Valley’s FOX signed on as a multicast of the primary station in 2006. In October 2012, we moved this station to its own primary channel,WSVF. The Valley’s FOX now broadcasts in full high definition. A 10 pm news was added in January 2012. Our local CBS station, CBS the V, was also added in October 2012. This station branded as The V, its call letters ESVF, combine top network programming and the most popular syndicated shows. My Valley-METV is a multicast of the primary channel featuring the best of classic TV and local news re-airs. First Alert 24/7 Weather Channel is a 24/7 weathe channel powered by WHSV and Accuweather. This stream airs on Comcast Cable only. WHSV is also on the cutting edge of emerging New Media. Local news, weather, and community information are all available 24/7 at whsv(dot)com and whsv mobile. Viewers also have the opportunity to get the latest information, via text alerts. Our web channel, WHSV(dot)com, delivers millions of page views to hundreds of thousands of unique visitors each month. Viewers are consuming news stories and other information, including streaming video, as well as live web casts of each of our on air news casts.
